Drum Major MoxworthyDrum Major Gavin Moxworthy CertGSMD(P) RM

Drum Major Gavin 'Moxy' Moxworthy was born and raised in Plymouth. He joined the Royal Marine Cadet Corps (RMVCC) at Stonehouse Barracks aged 8 yrs old, remaining a member until joining the Royal Marines Band Service in 1988 at the Royal Marines School of Music at Deal. He successfully completed one and a half year¹s training in 1989 and joined the Band at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines in Lympstone as a bugler within the Corps of Drums.

After passing his Junior Command Course, in 1995, he went on to achieve a distinguished pass on the 1997 Drum Major's course. Following his Drum Major's course he was drafted to the Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland in Rosyth, Fife, as the Assistant Drum Major. In 1999 was drafted to the Band of HM Royal Marines Plymouth to carry out duties as the Assistant Drum Major there. After five years in Plymouth he was drafted to the Band of HM Royal Marines Portsmouth, Royal Band, as the Assistant Drum Major and started preparing for his B1 promotion course. He passed the B1 course and also achieved 98.4% in an external exam with the Guildhall School of Music on snare drum performance. Completion of the B1 course saw a return to the Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland as the Band's appointed Drum Major, just in time to go to Australia to perform at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Sydney. Gavin was appoined Drum Major to the Band of HM Royal Marines Plymouth in August 2007. Since joining the Royal Marines Band Service, Gavin has travelled extensively throughout the world including; most of Europe, New Zealand, Malaysia. Bermuda, the Falkland Islands, Scandinavia, and America.

Gavin's interests include computers, football and socialising.
