Troop 1/00 joined the Royal Marines Band Service at Portsmouth on the 4th
September 2000. As the Staff Officer Band Service I am also their troop officer
and responsible for their training programme. For 13 weeks this web site will
be updated with a weekly report written by a member of the troop. A selection
of images will also be uploaded showing what the troop have been doing in
that week including instruction in husbandry, drill, weapons, physical training
and on exercise. The final week will show Troop 1/00 preparing for their passing
out parade from where they move from basic training into their two year intensive
musical training. You will be able to follow the transformation of 24 civilians
into members of one of the most professional, disciplined and talented military
band services in the world.
