Bandies On Bikes
On Monday 18th May 2009 members of the Royal Marines Band Service start cycling across the south coast of the UK from Deal in Kent to Torpoint in Cornwall in memory of Maj John Kelly and Cpl Andy Thomson. The event labelled ‘Bandies on Bikes’ hopes to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice, Deal Bandstand Memorial Trust and the RM Benevolent Fund.

Day one (Monday 18th May) Riders depart from the Deal Bandstand on the Strand at 10:00 following press call, all well wishers welcome to see the team off.
The Team will have a Police escort out of Deal at 10:00 from Deal to Dover and will then continue en-route to Newhaven, via Folkestone, Hythe and Eastbourne, arriving approx 1800 in Newhaven.
Day two (Tuesday 19th May) is from Newhaven to Portsmouth, again departing at 10:00 and going via Brighton, Worthing, Littlehampton, Bognor Regis and arriving in Portsmouth (HMS Temeraire) at approx 17:00.
Day three (Wednesday 20th May) is from Portsmouth to Poole. Depart from Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower at 10:00 moving to Poole via the Gosport Ferry, Hill Head, Warsash, Southampton, Lyndhurst (New Forest), Christchurch, Boscombe, Bournemouth and then RM Poole.
Day four (Thursday 21st May) is from Poole to Lympstone, departing RM Poole at 10:00 and moving to Commando Training Centre Royal Marines via Dorchester, Chideock, Lyme Regis, Woodbury Common and onto Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, arriving approx 17:00.
Day five (Friday 22nd May) is from Commando Training Centre Royal Marines departing at 09:00 and moving towards Torpoint via Exeter, Torquay, Kingswear, Dartmouth Bandstand Gardens (there will be an opportunity for well wishers to meet the team here), Kingsbridge, Plymouth and then the ferry across to Torpoint, finishing in HMS Raleigh at approx 16:00.
