What you need to do before coming for audition

  1. We've already said it and make no apology for saying it again: GET FIT! Your arms, stomach muscles, back muscles, leg muscles and lungs are going to undergo a strenuous workout in the physical tests and to stay on top mentally you will need to be on top physically.
  2. Prepare a selection of pieces (one for each of the instrument if you play more than one) to concert or examination standard for the Audition.
  3. Look at your wardrobe. You will be expected to wear smart clothes throughout the day as you would for any interview (except when you are in the gym). In the summer months you need not wear a jacket. During your free time in the evenings you can dress more casually.
  4. If you are genuinely interested in joining the Royal Marines Band Service you should know a bit about us before you come to the Audition. What is our history? Where do we fit in among the Band Services of the other arms of the British Forces? How do we train? What is the daily life like? Most of this information is contained in the Action Music Brochure. If you would like to obtain a copy contact your nearest Armed Forces Career Office and quote CP6 or have a look at the other pages on this website.
