Musn Maddock and his twin sister were born at Kings Mill Hospital near Nottingham. He lived with his father, sister, twin sister and brother until his father’s untimely death in 1995. He then lived with his grandparents and sisters. It was at this time of his life that He was introduced to the cornet, by his teacher at Sherwood Junior School.
He moved up to secondary school and whilst in Year 10 and had to find a work experience placement and asked a friend at the REME Corps of Music. It was he who told him about the Royal Marines Band Service and how good they are. Considering how much he enjoyed his work experience, he decided this was the life career for him.
Then sixth form came and the opportunity to see what the Royal Marines Band Service was all about. With the help of his music teacher, who he now lives with, he got physically and musically prepared for his audition. Upon finding out he had passed the audition and been offered a place he said “I was ecstatic to find out I was accepted into the Royal Marines Band Service family”.
