 Born in 1987 in New Zealand, Musn Kerr first became interested in the Royal Marines Band Service when he participated in a music tour to the UK and Europe in 2007 with the North Shore Youth Band and Waikato Youth Symphonic Band. They were fortunate enough to attend a practical workshop with the Portsmouth Band and were also given a tour of the Royal Marines School of Music. At the time he was studying for a Bachelor of Music degree in New Zealand; so he finished the Degree and saved up enough money head to the northern hemisphere.
He started learning the trumpet at the age of 8, and started studying the art of playing the trumpet under John Lauderdale ARAM in 2000. More recently he studied under Michael Laird. He said “It is an absolute privilege to be accepted into the Royal Marines and I’m anticipating a fabulous time in the School of Music in several weeks time”.
