As the new Entry Troop September 2001 embark on their musical training they will begin an extremely intensive and thorough musical education over a period of 2 years 8 months. This training will prepare them in all aspects required to take their place in one of the working bands of Royal Marines Band Service. Their training will include training and performances in the Parade Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Big Band, Dance Band and numerous smaller ensembles. In addition to this they will receive thorough academic training which will prepare them for various civilian examinations. All students also have the opportunity to embark on our BMus (Hons) course, accredited by the University of Portsmouth.

During their time at the Royal Marines School of Music, the students will be well looked after with my professional and dedicated team attending to any professional, welfare or spiritual needs of those under our care.

We are truly proud of the Royal Marines Band Service, and the quality of student that we are recruiting bodes well for the future of the professional music service of the Royal Navy.
