This week was always going to be hard after two weeks of total relaxation at
home on Easter Leave. The pain was relieved however by the fact that this was
only going to be a four day week!
We arrived back Tuesday morning, bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for a half
day in our practice cells - the afternoon was spent at HMS Dryad where the School
of Music competed against HMS Dryad and HMS Collingwood - two of the Navy's
largest training establishments. It gave us great pleasure to walk away with
the trophy at the end of the day - even though our football team did not fare
too well, we showed what separates Royal Marines from the Navy in Rugby, Hockey,
Bucket-ball, Shooting, Jenga, Table Football and Connect Four.
The rest of the week was spent getting back to the routine of life in the School
- tired lips and fingers were affecting most of us after such a long time away
- but we are all looking forward to next week which is our Adventure Training
week. Myself and six others from the School will be taking a yacht around the
Solent for a week, while a majority of Training Company travel to Wales to take
part in a number of activities including climbing, quad biking, hiking (up Mt
Snowdon!) and visiting ropeworks - a trip not recommended for those with a fear
of heights! Lets hope we all come back in one piece!
I would also like to say good luck to the members of Tp 1/03 who commenced their
Basic Military Training this week to seeing them all pass out (hopefully!) on
Open Day this summer.
