Musn Linden 17 - 23 March 2003

Mon 17 Mar

The day started off with a hard phys session, we went for a run to Southsea and back with CSgt McGough. As soon as we got back we quickly got showered and in work for 0850 As soon as we got to work it was straight into work for a usual Monday. We had recitals from 1300-1400, today Musn Naylor played tuba, Musn Allen on violin, Musn Clark on saxophone and Musn Fenne and Trudgeon on percussion.

We then went back to private practice and finished the day at 1620. We then had to do our rounds ready for the Tuesday morning inspections.

Tue 18 Mar

Today was a bit disrupted in the morning as our new Concert Hall was having its official opening, it was being opened by FOTR (Flag Officer Training & Recruiting) named the Parker Hall VC after Capt Parker who won a VC in Gallipoli in 1915. Myself and 6 others had to serve drinks in the new hall to the VIPs. It all went really well, everyone worked very hard. As soon as people left we cleared everything up and were lucky to be thinned out from 1400 but we were back in work at 1830 for concert band in the new hall, taken by Cpl Tripp. We finished at 2000 and that was it until parade band the next morning.

Wed 19 Mar

We were on parade for 0750 for an hour learning new marches for up and coming gigs. We finished at 0900 and straight into private practice. We then had a jazz rig up with Cpl Williams (trumpet instructor) which lasted until lunch. As it was such a nice day for RT in the afternoon we went on the common to play softball.

Thu 20 Mar

Sgt Grounsell took a circuit this morning, we did lots and lots of sit ups so our stomachs will be hurting tomorrow morning. We were then in for a whole day's practice but they kindly gave us tonight off from the normal evening's rehearsal.

Fri 21 Mar

This morning we were inspected for 40 mins in No1 Ceremonials, we then went through some more marches. We then had to go and get back into our daily rig, normal practice for the morning. Then my term had history with Sgt Ridley and we then went straight into orchestra for the rest of the day! It was the end of quite a busy week really.

Practice makes perfect!
