Monday
Monday morning saw us up at 0730 to start a hard PT session, CSgt Curry took
us to Southsea for a run and sprints.
Back at the School and many of us had plenty to be getting on with, especially
Bug Ford and Bug Lowe who were busy practicing drill movements and repertoire
for their trip to Bahrain. Also 3 days until England's last group match.
Tuesday
Tuesday and everyone was in for a hard day at RMSM. Many of us started the day with professorial lessons or group work, many of us found it hard to concentrate with the World Cup going on and England doing well and beating the Argies! But anyway work had to go on and rehearsals were going on for the concert being held in Axminster, Devon.
Wednesday
Wednesday morning and to our delight Parade Band had been canceled so we could watch the England v Nigeria game. Some of us went to work early, at 0730, to watch the match on a big screen in the Concert Hall, but the more sensible of us didn't move from our beds; except to reach for the remote control, switch on and see England qualify for the knockout stage, drawing 0-0 with Nigeria. Many of us went out that night to celebrate... any excuse!
Thursday
Thursday morning and it was sponsored prayers for everyone. A lovely performance by the wind section made it a most enjoyable morning. So back into our rooms for a day's practice with professorial lessons and group work, but not for Bug Ford and Bug Lowe who were off to Bahrain to 'work' for 4 days, Mmm yeah right! Oh yeah and England play Denmark on Saturday!
Friday
With the Axminster gig coming up lots of rehearsals were in order for the Concert
Band and Corps Of Drums for our Display. There were some quite challenging pieces
to be rehearsed and I think everything was going OK with the general repertoire.
On the Friday night a few of us decided to take a trip down to Pizza Hut as
we didn't fancy galley food. Afterwards we enjoyed a few jars in the different
array of public houses in Portsmouth and then, of course, visited Mr Abdul to
sample some of his Indian dishes.
