Week 11 Musician Walton 05 November - 11 November 2001

This week started off with a 4 mile run which allowed the troop to throw away those weekend cobwebs and begin what was to be an interesting week of training. We spent the most of the morning receiving our NBC theory as the dreaded chamber tests were only four days away and nobody wanted to be caught out on the day of the race. The afternoon was spent in the swimming pool of HMS Temeraire and this proved to be the start of a physically demanding week - with table 2 pass out not far down the road.

Tuesday
The interval drill session on Tuesday became a Passout rehearsal which the troop thoroughly enjoyed - even though we have a lot of work to do in the upcoming weeks - and was a refreshing change to have a look forward to what Passout day was going to be like. Tuesday was also our first opportunity to put our practical drills into practise for NBC.

Wednesday
Wednesday saw the first kit muster for the troop which we all passed - well done troop! We spent the afternoon practising for the quickly advancing table 2 PT Passout and finished the day off by having a football competition between the IMF teams. Congratulations to team 1 who won the competition and in particular to Musn Fothergill who proved to be lethal in front of goal.

Thursday
Thursday was an enjoyable day starting off with exercise 'Day Tired' - a degradation exercise to show us how difficult life in an NBC suit is - we all appreciated this when evacuating FRED the Casevac (Casualty evacuation) dummy on a stretcher! We had a relaxing afternoon: a guided tour of HMS Victory and a trip to the Royal Marines Museum which we found to be packed with the history of the Royal Marines and gave us a lot deeper insight into our heritage.

Friday
Friday was the day we were all dreading, the CS gas chamber tests! Everybody in the troop passed the tests without any major problems… a great effort on everybody's behalf. Special mention in particular to Musn King who managed to carry on through the drill even though her respirator harness broke halfway through.

Sunday saw the troop at St Ann's Church to attend the Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service with Musn Linden representing the troop by laying a wreath on our behalf.
