Musician Hall 17 - 21 May 2004

I am currently studying TABLEAUX DE PROVENCE for alto saxophone and orchestra or piano for my M3 exam, which is in two week's time.
Monday was back to work as normal for everyone after Adventure Training in Italy. We didn't have any PT as we were in the concert hall sorting out all of the kit issued to us for Adventure Training. Thankfully we only managed to lose one pair of walking boots between all of us! After we had got everything sorted out we were back to our practise cells for the rest of the morning. The afternoon began with recitals by Musns Morgan, Yates, Wilson and Bryett. Well done to everyone! We were then back practising for the rest of the day.

We were back into the full School of Music Routine with Tuesday morning having rounds. Thankfully everyone passed them. After rounds I had my saxophone professor lesson with Mr Hastings. This was my last lesson with Mr Hastings before my exam as he is off to Japan for 3 weeks. Hopefully he will have a great time. The rest of the day was spent practising. We had orchestra in the evening and were looking through a selection of music, which could be possible to do on Open Day.

Wednesday began with Parade Band. We have a Parade Band gig on Friday so all of those, which are involved with that was in the Concert Hall having a musical rehearsal. The remainder were outside with the Drum Major. Again the rest of the morning was spent practising. In the afternoon CSgt J McGough took us to Southsea Common for an afternoon of rounders. Unfortunately Musn Ginn fell awkwardly and has broken his finger, hope it gets better soon.

Thursday morning saw us going for a run down to Southsea which was a bit of a shock to the system as we have not been running for a couple of weeks. We were then off to the School for a day of practising. I had my violin lesson today with Professor Simpson. In the afternoon I had a run through with Professor Douglas for my saxophone recital. This went really well. The evening rehearsal tonight was Concert Band where we were told what pieces we were playing on Open Day.
Friday started with our Parade Band gig in the dockyard. This was quite a short gig as when we arrived the ship was already pulling in. It was then back to the School for some more practising. The afternoon began with Concert Band which unfortunately only lasted for an hour as the DOM(T) had to go off to a meeting. We then spent the rest of the afternoon practising.
