Musician Fothergill 03 - 07 May 2004

Monday

We woke up in the snowy Italian town of Arraba ready to enjoy a day's para gliding in the Dolomites. After a two hour drive we reached the beautiful picturesque part of the country from where we were to jump. After a few nervous moments everybody eventually managed to jump. We then went back to the accommodation for some well needed sleep.

Tuesday

The snow had fallen quite heavily overnight and so the day's activities had been cancelled. Fortunately CSgt Joe McGough managed to jack up a hike up the local mountain so we all went for a nice stroll to work up and appetite for dinner that evening.

Wednesday

As the snow was still really deep we still couldn't carry out the planned activities so again we marched up another local mountain where everybody enjoyed a big snowball fight at the top. The evening was then spent in a local hotel bar where Musn Hannah Bennet entertained us all with her expert skills on the piano.

Thursday

Today was spent rock climbing with a touch of walking. A good time was had by all. The evening's entertainment was provided by BdCpl Hue Williams on Trumpet and Musn John Parks on the piano. As this was the last night everybody decided to have a few drinks and a bit of a party.

Friday

Today was spent travelling back. As we reached Venice CSgt McGough decided to stop there so we had an afternoon on the gondolas down the Grand Canal. The flight left at about 2230 and we arrived back at HMS Nelson at about 0300 the next morning.
Once again thanks to all the instructors for their hard work in the organisation of a cracking week.
