LCpl Jo Thomas

LCpl Thomas
LCpl Jo Thomas joined the Royal Marines Band Service in January 1993. She completed her initial and musical training in RMSM Deal, leaving in April 1995 and joined HM Royal Marines Band Plymouth, where she has been until present. LCpl Thomas is a solo clarinet player and has travelled extensively throughout her 5 years in Plymouth Band, the Ocean Wave Deployment being the longest trip so far. During these 6 months away on HMS Illustrious, LCpl Thomas visited a number of countries: France, Gibraltar, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Philippines, culminating with the closure of Hong Kong which was one of the highlights of her career so far. She has also visited America on a number of occasions along with Australia, Tokyo and a number of European countries. This year LCpl Thomas successfully passed her Junior Command Course and is one of the first female NCO's in the Royal Marines Band Service. LCpl Thomas has been specially brought in to be a member of the Team here at RMSM for the period of the New Entry Troop 1/00. Although not a regular member of the Team, her role for this period is very much female liaison between the New Entries and the Training Team whilst also fulfilling her duties as a secondary instructor. So far she has enjoyed her time very much at RMSM and feels that with having completed the training herself, she has a lot to offer to the New Entry Troop 1/00.
