Mon
It's the start of the second week back after Christmas Leave and last week was
an exciting time in the gas chambers and on the ranges.
The second week of Military Training involves FA2s (First Aid). Today involved
talks and videos which were very entertaining, lots of lectures but no practical
work.
Tues
The second day has more to offer in the practical field of things. We practice
on a dummy 'resuci Anni' which can be amusing at times. Also the day involved
bandaging basic fractures, cuts and other injuries which was a team effort.
My partner was CSgt Paul Basford who was very helpful and encouraging.
Weds
We have been working through a book which contains all the basic knowledge to
first aid. The book is about 120 pages long so there is a lot to take in.
Wednesday is the day of the theory test so the whole troop has been testing
other all week so we are prepared. The good news is everybody passed!
Thurs
Today is very important, it is the practical test day. This involves teams of
four going to a simulated explosion and working on the casualties. It is a very
intensive environment. I had Sgt Higgins testing me and Musn Jim Lloyd as my
casualty (not the best actor Jim!) The day ran smoothly and again everyone passed.
Fri
As everyone did so well we all got 'thinned out' early so back to Cornwall for
me for a nice weekend break.
