Musn Thompson-Bialy 17 March - 23 March 2003

The week began as usual with an early morning phys session, not the best way to start the week. From then the day followed on as normal, your regular day at RMSM, practising hard being the target of the day.

The afternoon was kicked off by the recitals. Well done to all that played, it's not the easiest of things to do, playing in front of the most critical audience you'll ever have, your peers. It's something we all have to do in training. Monday ended with the degree class having history with Mr Douglas, and some final revision before their exams.

Monday night is free, except for doing Rounds. Everyone has their communal and personal rounds area to clean for inspection on Tuesday morning.
Fall in at 0815 starts Tuesday and we are straight into individual practice. Tuesday progressed without much to report. Tuesday night was concert band practice, in the new concert hall for the first time. They have named it Parker VC Concert Hall - a fitting tribute to the Lt Col W R Parker who received the Victoria Cross.
0800 and we are all fell in on the parade square on Wednesday morning. We are preparing for a Beat Retreat at HMS Collingwood just before Easter leave, our first parade band gig of 2003.

Wednesday is a half day at RMSM. On Wednesday afternoon we do Recreational Training which is organised by the PTIs. This week we went down to Southsea Common and played some ball games.

Thursday begins with phys, again at 0730. It was another hard session. Several pupils from the School sat mock elements exams. T3 up to M3. All worked hard and hopefully will achieve good grades.

Thursday night's rehearsal had been cancelled and we were all relieved to have the evening to do our kit for parade band the next day. It was in full NO 1 ceremonials.

It was an early start on Friday. Parade Band started at 0740 to allow the Drum Major time to inspect everyone in their best rig. Lucky for us, helpful tips were the only things given out. Many breathed a sigh of relief. No extra parades.

Aural classes followed a quick change after parade band and we all found ourselves singing bang in tune.

An orchestra rehearsal was arranged for Friday afternoon, it makes the time go quicker. Fridays can drag, everyone is looking forward to the weekend, and this week to the Spring Social; a P&O Ferry trip to France. From all reports a good time was had by all.
