I am Musn Harwood of Troop 1/00. I play clarinet and piano.
Monday
Today we started with a good old run in Phys. C/Sgt McGough took the 13 of us
that were left for a run down to Southsea seafront, as everyone else had flown
to Iceland last night at midnight.
After phys we all headed over to work where it was very quiet, since there wasn't
enough of us left to fill the school.
This morning I had a lesson with Mr Kennard, my clarinet professor .We went
through my pieces and scales for my up and coming T3 examination, (I have only
just changed instrumental category from cornet to clarinet) we then played a
few duets. I then practiced my piano until stand easy, starting with scales
then preparing my pieces for my lesson.
After lunch I again took my clarinet out and practiced my piece for my recital.
Monday evening was quite different as there were no Rounds, there being only
4 females left behind, so I got to go straight home tonight, as I live outside
the barracks.
Tuesday
Today started by not having to get up until 0730hrs as we didn't have to fall
in until 0850. We then had an hour of Aural with Sgt Ridley where I managed
to get out of doing any work, as I was playing the piano instead.
The afternoon started with a two hour lesson with Mr Douglas on my piano. I
was quite tired at the end from all the concentration I had to use.
Bug Vyse spent the day trying to organise some recreational activities for Wednesday
afternoon. This evening we were allowed to go straight home, as there was no
evening rehearsal.
Wednesday
We had to be in work for 0850hrs again this morning. We were expecting C/Sgt
Holman to teach his elements class, but we were all left to practice.
In the evening we went ten pin bowling with, Musn Jesson managing to win both
games with Musn Potts in close contest.
We then had a spot of retail therapy, before I headed back home.
Thursday
Sgt Grounsell took us for another run down to Southsea seafront this morning
for our phys session.
Back for work at 0850hrs and another long day at work for everyone. I had another
piano lesson and not quite as long this time which was a relief, because it
was my jazz lesson, (I do enjoy jazz but find it quite difficult to play).
Friday
With no parade band we again enjoyed a nice lie in and were at work for 8:50am.
Friday always seems a long day and this one was no exception, especially as
there were so few of us here. The instructors however took pity on us at 2:00pm
and thought that as the Iceland ranks were working away, we deserved a bit of
a break as well and so they sent us home, so we could enjoy a nice long weekend.
