Musician Bailey 29 April - 5 May 2002

Monday

The week commenced in its usual manner with Monday morning PT, 'a real wake-up after the weekend'. Meanwhile… over at the School of Music, the staff and DOM(T) were making the final preparations for the arrival of the camera crew who were spending all week filming us for a new promotional video.

Tuesday

A very smart Training Company all with rather sleek and neat hairstyles, arrived at work ready for action. The camera crew worked their way around the School making many of the students famous as they filmed ensembles and groups, but most important of all, for me. a string recital given by Musns Hearman and McKinnon playing the Bach Double Violin Concerto, accompanied by a small string ensemble (including myself on viola!!).

Wednesday

(Half way through the week… half way to the weekend...)
The filming continued with stardom falling into the laps of various NCO's, shining their light in the classroom and keeping classes full of students on the edge of their seats (nothing to do with the stand easy which was five minutes away, I might add!!)
Wednesday at the School is usually a half day, with RT in the afternoon. This went ahead as normal but Wednesday was extended this week, with a Bingo Night in the evening. Thank you to Cpl Bean and the Social Committee for their organisation of this and many other similar events throughout the year.

Thursday

I, personally, spent Thursday morning trying to avoid the limelight (or should that be camera light). After proudly being picked to demonstrate how to clean brasses for the camera crew, but with agility and the blessing of being small and being able to hide in even the smallest places, I escaped and another willing volunteer was picked (Ha Ha Ha).
Thursday evening's activities included everybody performing in the Concert Band with the rehearsal being taken by the new Bandmaster WO1 Martin. We played through a number of pieces in preparation for forthcoming gigs.

Friday

(The Weekend!!!!)
Friday morning usually involves Parade Band rehearsals, but instead this week we had a gig in Gosport. The majority of the School were involved and for the remainder a chance to catch up on some practice; practice in particular of those difficult passages that the camera crew's sound man may have picked up!
