Term's objectives: "This season I'll be mostly... Playing Percussion".
Monday
Monday morning started with PT. A squaded run around Portsmouth's dimly lit
streets with no sound but the incessant babble of sparrows, larks and cheery
banter of the milkman going diligently about his business.
Having showered and changed, myself and Musn Trudgeon made our way over to the
Portsmouth band room ready to start rehearsals for the St Mary's Orchestra gig
on Thursday. On completion of the day's work we then, traditionally, set about
rounds, ready for Tuesday.
Tuesday
Tuesday was much the same as Monday, pausing briefly after work, to then complete
an evening orchestra rehearsal which went smoothly. Then to the bar, not forgetting
the daily maintenance required in preparing our half lovats for parade band
the following morning.
Wednesday
With the new, New Entries now with us we have a fairly hefty band, allowing
for myself and 'Trudge' to both play bass drum, yes that's right, two bass drums!
Unfortunately we both missed RT & Aerobics, yes that's right aerobics, as
we partook in our allocated weekly quota of percussion lessons.
Thursday
Thursday brought us on the gig with Portsmouth Band, on to their 'job cards'
routine, which entailed a lie in, thoroughly deserved of course. With our blues
prepared, we took the coach to the church to run through the set in the afternoon.
The gig went quite well and then it was back to bar for a beer.
Friday
Friday started with parade band
freezing. More percussion lessons ensued
in the aftermath of the day, known to modern 21st Century Neanderthal as 'afternoon',
and once again a week in the Royal Marines drew to a close. The sun is setting
in the sky
bandy tubbie says goodbye. That's all folks, goodnight.
