I am Musician Fenne, I have been in the RM Band Service a year now, I am currently
studying percussion at the RMSM and I have two more years of the M3 Course to
complete.
My Instructors are Colour Sergeant Staines and Professor Paul Cameron.
At present I am trying to get back my form after the three week Summer Leave
period. We were back (those of us who didn't go to Canford) on the Wednesday
before, so I've had ten days to get back into the swing of things, though the
first few hours of Wednesday morning were plenty.
At the moment I am preparing myself for my Term 3 assessment. It is the first
of 3, the third being my final M3 exam. I have to prepare a piece for xylophone,
timpani, snare drum and drum kit. As of yet I only have a xylophone piece 'Mazoni'
which is rather tricky.
The recruits forming this year's New Entry Troop arrived on Monday the 3rd.
It seems strange for me to see them begin the fifteen weeks I did just a year
ago, all the lads and their new short hair cuts running about. I digress.
On the Monday we had PT to start the day as usual.
On the Tuesday we had orchestra in the evening and played through a few new
pieces.
Wednesday started with Parade Band which, to the Drum Majors obvious displeasure,
was a bit rusty after the summer break and as a consequence next week we are
in Blues for Wednesday morning Parade Band! The afternoon RT session was a welcome
break as ever.
Thursday morning found us on the running track to do the BFT, a mile and a half
best effort run, which I completed.
Friday brought with it Parade Band again, which went a lot better then Wednesday!
The weekly run ashore commenced in the evening and we all made it, as always,
to work on time for Saturday morning practice. It is as though we had never
been away. Still only four months till Christmas
may it speedily be with
us
amen.
