Back to work again, only this time on a Tuesday. Yes, that's right,
Training Company were given Bank Holiday Monday off. Much of the establishment
had Tuesday off as well but we being students didn't. Well we can't have everything.
The flute class had a 'welcome back' assessment after almost two weeks away
with hardly any playing. Needless to say we didn't shine but I think we all
learned our lesson. While we were being put through our paces the rest of the
trainees were back into their usual routine of Professor lessons and instruction
after the week of Adventure Training.
Wednesday morning came and there was to be no Parade Band, a rare treat. We
played basketball in RT (Recreational Training) which made a pleasant change.
Not only does RT mean a half day of practice and an afternoon of sport, it also
signifies the beginning of the end of the week.
Thursday morning saw a normal PT session with CSgt Fulthorpe and Sgt Griffin.
We were down at the track but not doing a BFT. Instead of the usual six laps,
we did eight, getting timed every two. Thursday 31st May can only mean one thing
- PAYDAY! Once again the bar was full after the evening's rehearsal as everyone
had money. On Friday we enjoyed the highpoint of the term - the summer social.
Quite appropriate for bandies, we had a party cruise from Portsmouth Harbour
to Cowes on something that resembled the Gosport Ferry. The theme of the evening
was 70's and everyone dressed well for it, especially Musn Wooley who came as
the construction worker from the Village People (YMCA).
