Italy
Finally after days of practising the display for Italy the day of departure
has finally arrived. We all gathered at 8am ready to hop on to the coach to
start our journey.
All was going well, and we were looking forward to the glorious sunshine of
Italy. This is not what we found though! What should we find when we arrived?
RAIN! Never mind, hey it still beats old Blighty! We all ditched our gear and
headed for tea and then the bar.
The first thing to cross my mind when I woke up was SUN. It was glorious sunshine
outside. Today was our first gig in Italy. It was in the local town where we
were staying. It wasn't until the evening which we were all thankful for as
the sun was blazing.
All went well and we were greatly appreciated by all.
Throughout this trip we did many gigs varying from Concert Band to Beating Retreats
and also parades through the streets. The heat was immense, made 100 times worse
by wearing full No1's. I have never sweat so much in my entire life. It was
not all work though (thank goodness) as we had trips arranged for us. Places
we visited included, Venice, Milan (good for footie shirts), breathtaking landscapes
and architecture.
It soon came round to our last day in Italy. The weather suddenly changed once
more back to rain so we were all pretty glad to leave.
We were all privileged to be able to go on this trip but no-one more than my
fellow troop members (Dan Johnson, Phil Trudgeon and Dan Button) as we were
the only ones to go from troop 1-00. It was all very good experience for us
all and was thoroughly enjoyed. We arrived back in England very tired, brown
with many good memories behind us.
