CSgt Basford

CSgt Paul Basford joined the Royal Marines on the 5th November 1979 and successfully passed out of commando training in June the following year. His initial draft was to 42 Commando Royal Marines based on the south edge of Dartmoor in Devon. He is a Platoon Weapons Instructor 1st Class and as such leads the Military Training team within the Royal Marines School of Music, Portsmouth. As the teams leader he is responsible for the planning and organisation of the New Entry training as well as the annual continuation training for the Band Service as a whole.

Prior to joining Headquarters Band Service CSgt Basford was based in London on one of the six Royal Marines Visibility Teams presenting to colleges, schools and universities in the London area. He has also served in 40 Commando RM, Commando Training Centre RM, Commando Helicopter Operations and Support Cell on board HMS Endurance. He saw active service in the Falklands in 1982 and more recently in Northern Iraq, Southern Turkey and the former Yugoslavia. He is due to leave the Royal Marines in July 2002, so if you have a job vacancy around that time please feel free to call him!
